<p>The Bill has been introduced to amend and consolidate provisions relating to the House of Commons Members’ Fund, which assists former Members and their dependants who are in financial difficulty. </p><p><strong>Key areas</strong></p><ul><li>would allow more flexibility to the Trustees in managing the Fund, including through extending the class of beneficiary </li><li>would remove the requirement for an annual appropriation resolution </li><li>would remove the requirement that all current Members make a monthly contribution of £2 </li><li>would allow the Fund to return surplus funds to the Treasury.</li></ul>
