Some of us have worked on this for over 20 years and, as we sought to improve things, I heard numerous times that the last lot of things we did—for example, banning smoking in public places—was fine, but this was a step too far. Needless to say, when we tried to ban smoking in public places, that was unacceptable. As we have here, they would often offer “This, but not that”.
