These safeguards are in stark contrast to the measure proposed by the previous Government, in which information about anything could be requested from anybody, and every single benefit was in scope from the outset, including the state pension. I am grateful to the noble Lord, Lord Vaux, for his acknowledgement of the improvements that have been made to the Bill.
