New clause 2 would require the Government to assess the impact of future plant closures on the production of SAF, and would ensure that options to mitigate the supply risks are investigated. This is a sensible proposal given the uncertain future facing our production sites. The amendment is necessary not only to protect our domestic plants, but to enable the roll-out of cleaner energy sources.
