Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill

Contribution

Such a duty as proposed here goes further than arrangements for comparable assessments, such as equality impact assessments and environmental principles assessments. There is an important toolbox of ways in which policymakers can be, rightly, driven to consider the rights of children, as with the rights of equality and environmental principles. We need to improve the way in which we use that toolbox across government, but we do not believe that it is right to incorporate it in statute as the amendment would require.
