I also know from experience that for parents with serious complaints—we have heard some examples of those—the current system is not fit for purpose. Public bodies, departments of education or local education departments cannot just think that they will go away or that bureaucracy is taking over. It is equally damaging for the schools themselves if a parent makes a complaint, if it is very minor and has been blown out of proportion. Sometimes they involve other parents and other issues, and they can be very distressing for the school and cause real worry to the teacher, head teacher or governing body concerned. I am interested to hear what the Minister says, because it is something that we need to think very carefully about.
