Children’s Wellbeing and Schools BillContribution
Amendment 502H, in the name of my noble friend Lord Moynihan, goes even further, proposing a full national strategy for physical education and sport in schools. Again, given the detrimental physical and mental impact on children of a lack of sport and activity, this is urgently needed. I suggest that it is a no-brainer. We know how sport can improve educational attainment and outcomes for our children. It is a fact that sport and physical activity can make children both happier and healthier. In an age when young people are bombarded by social media, when they spend more time online and inactive than ever before and when their physical and mental health is deteriorating, taking real action to boost physical education, sport and activity in schools is not an option; it is a necessity.
