I am delighted that the Government have launched a series of research initiatives, but while the department is still developing the criteria for edtech, time-stricken teachers and cash-strapped schools are being encouraged and sometimes pressured to introduce technology of unknown quality. We have no insight into the learning outcomes beyond the marketing claims of a sector that is now worth $160 billion a year and growing at pace.
