In thinking about how we monitor that, although Ofsted inspectors assess how well schools implement and review safeguarding policies, including those addressing risks from technology and social media, they will not routinely look at how schools use filtering and monitoring software. They are not technical experts who can assess the performance of software systems. It is more appropriate that expert bodies assess product performance, and regimes for the certification of products as safe and fit for purpose already exist. Badging these would allow them to be recognised by schools and checked by Ofsted.
