The departmental data protection officer was engaged on the amendment to the Data (Use and Access) Bill to which I think the noble Baroness, Lady Kidron, referred, which introduced a requirement for the ICO to produce a code of practice to support the responsible use of edtech tools in schools. We remain committed through this engagement to ensuring appropriate protections for children’s privacy and to safeguarding personal data. We are supporting the commitment to the code of practice. The DfE is fully engaged with DSIT and the ICO on the code.
