Local news is vital. People need to know what is going on in their community. They need to be able to understand what is happening locally, what is available to them and what the local councils are up to. Having a flow of local information is fundamental to community life. The flow of money from public notices is most helpful in supporting local news but the outlets supported should be the ones that are doing the now vital work of distributing local news—not the ones that did it 1881.
