In conclusion, these amendments are not about resisting development or slowing down progress. They are about fairness, legal clarity and the proper recognition of property rights. They are about ensuring that, when the state exercises its considerable powers to take land, it does so transparently, lawfully and with proper respect for the individuals and businesses whose assets are affected. I urge the Government to think again.
