214: After Clause 106, insert the following new Clause— “Review: impact on food and water security(1) At the end of the period of 12 months, beginning with the day on which this Act is passed, and annually thereafter, the Secretary of State must publish a report detailing the total area, in hectares, of any land that has been taken out of food production as a result of the provisions of this Act—(a) in the previous twelve months, and(b) cumulatively since the Act came into force.(2) The report must include the total area, in hectares, of any land taken out of food production and used for—(a) the construction of houses and associated infrastructure,(b) the construction of reservoirs or other water catchment devices,(c) the installation of solar panels, and(d) the production of maize and other crops grown to support the generation of electricity.(3) The report must provide an assessment of the increased risk, if any, to the food and water security of the United Kingdom.”Member’s explanatory statement This amendment seeks to ensure that the Government provides annual updates on any agricultural land lost as a result of this Bill and any consequent risks to this country’s food and water security.
