Planning and Infrastructure Bill

Contribution

On Amendment 236, tabled by the noble Lord, Lord Cameron, the Government agree that the environmental improvement that conservation measures deliver must be maintained beyond the end date of an EDP where this is necessary to address any ongoing environmental impact from development. This is why the Bill already requires that conservation measures be managed and maintained for the duration of the EDP or longer, as required, to address the environmental impact of development. The requirement already ensures that, where development will continue to have an impact beyond the end of the EDP period, the conservation measures must continue to be managed and maintained for a corresponding period. Arrangements for the management of land will be made on a case-by-case basis between the relevant landowner and Natural England or a delivery partner. If land is no longer needed, such circumstances would need to form part of any such agreement.
