Planning and Infrastructure BillContribution
Amendment 185SC provides for a new clause requiring the development of plans to include provision of facilities for physical activity by requiring that any national or local plan or strategy relating to the planning or development of an area must be designed to meet communities’ needs for sport and physical activity facilities for the health and the well-being of the community. Again, this would include gyms, swimming pools, leisure centres, parks and other community sports facilities. Furthermore, if accepted, it would require the Secretary of State to issue guidance to local planning authorities on how local plans and strategies can be designed to achieve the aims outlined. The new clause would require national or local development plans to be designed in a way that ensures adequate provision of facilities for sport and physical activity.
