We will come shortly to the issue of heat. Artificial turf gets extraordinarily hot if it is unshaded. Older versions are made of polypropylene, newer versions of polyethylene, but they are all plastic. They are all going to be shedding plastics—microplastics—into the environment the whole time. That is what is happening while it is there on the ground in use and I really question how any builder, but particularly any housebuilder, that is putting down plastic turf that small children are then going to play on—breathe that plastic in, get that plastic on their hands, swallow that plastic—could possibly justify that.
