Planning and Infrastructure BillContribution
On Amendments 226 and 351, which would require the introduction of a new regulatory framework in respect of healthy homes, noble Lords know that the measures in this Bill provide changes to existing planning processes to speed up housebuilding and infrastructure delivery, while also reducing unnecessary duplication and regulatory burdens through legislation. Although I know that the amendments are very well-intentioned, they would cut across pre-existing planning policy, design guidance, building safety standards, building standards and building regulations. For that reason, the Government do not agree that an additional regulatory framework to promote healthy homes is necessary.
