Speaking in the House of Lords on 8 September 2025

Debate

Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Bill

Contribution

This Committee should be very concerned about that. We have had previous debates in which we have been concerned that powers of that kind—rather nebulous and very subjective powers—should not be considered acceptable. Could the Minister give us an example of conditions other than those that have been elaborated which the Secretary of State might think fit in any situation? The list is already fairly long and pretty exhaustive, so I wait to hear from the Minister on that.
