Border Security, Asylum and Immigration BillContribution
I come back to the central argument: the powers are necessary to protect the public from migrants who pose a threat to the public but cannot be removed due to our obligations under domestic or international law. In such cases, we will continue to frequently assess each person’s circumstances to ensure that they are removed at the earliest opportunity. I recognise from the quizzical looks that this may not satisfy Members of this Committee who are raising these issues. That is understandable and I am stating where the Government are.
