Labour — Cumbernauld and Kirkintilloch

Speaking in the House of Commons on 2 September 2025

Debate

Group-based Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse

Contribution

I thank the Minister for her statement today and for the recognition that a process that is supported by those people who should be at the heart of it is always difficult. We must take time to ensure that any inquiry has the faith of the people at the centre of it, because it will never be possible to do that again, as they have been failed too often. We have discussed before how child abuse and exploitation does not stop at Gretna. Will the Minister outline what engagement there has been with the devolved Administrations on how we can make this a truly national inquiry?
