For what it is worth, if we are going to continue having biomass in this country, why should we not have UK-produced timber being a significant source of that? One of the things that we need to make sure we are doing in future is moving to having a lot more wood in our construction of homes. Although most British people love bricks, stone and similar—I should say “English and Welsh people”, as a significant proportion of the housing stock in Scotland has wood as a principal material in its construction—we need to do more of that in this country. It would be good for carbon more generally. It would also mean that we consider what to do, with it still being at risk of being a limited resource, in terms of the construction industry more broadly for all the other infrastructure that we want to do.
