In effect, they have admitted the problem, because, today, they announced a £1 billion youth employment drive, including a new youth jobs grant paying employers £3,000 for each eligible 18 to 24 year-old they hire. In other words, the Government are now telling business, “We are going to refund employer national insurance in part if you hire the very people you currently cannot afford to hire because we raised employer national insurance”. In what sort of fantasy parallel economic socialist universe is that common sense?
