Others, including the Secondary Legislation Scrutiny Committee, which the Minister referenced, have raised concerns about the exemption for merchants offering their own buy now, pay later products and the exclusion for longer or interest-bearing agreements. I would like to understand better these matters and how the Government plan to handle them, but I take comfort from what the Minister said about the Government having powers to intervene again in future if they need to, and about other legislation that applies in many of these cases.
