Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill

Reassuringly, poorer families are not spending a substantially higher proportion of their incomes on clothing than others. According to the latest ONS data, 3% of household income nationally is spent on clothing and footwear. For the poorest fifth of households, the proportion is only very marginally higher at 3.1%. I also believe that most schools are acutely aware of which families are in real need and have arrangements to make sure that uniform that is no longer needed or has been outgrown can be passed on second hand or free to those who need it.
