Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill

Contribution

Schools need to know that the Government stand behind them on the difficult choices that they must make. These are things that a Government who really want to make schools work better could address, as well as cost, so I support the simple and practical amendments proposed by the noble Lords, Lord Hampton, Lord Young, Lord Agnew and Lord Mohammed, and the noble Baroness, Lady Barran. They would contribute to a simplified and workable regime that recognises the value of school uniform and incentivises schools to make the effort to provide new or second-hand branded items free or at minimal cost to those who need them.
