Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill

Contribution

Amendment 198 in the name of the noble Baroness, Lady Barran, seeks to allow schools to require more than three branded uniform items where the school provides additional items that can be purchased for significantly less than generic alternatives or, for second-hand items, for less than buying a new branded item. Our view is that this amendment is also unnecessary as, just to reiterate, nothing in the Bill will prevent those schools capable of providing branded items for less cost than generic alternatives from offering them, but as an optional item.
