Debate
Children’s Wellbeing and Schools BillContribution
I will make two points briefly before we finish. One I will make with great delicacy because it is such a horrific case. The case of Sara Sharif has been alluded to on a couple of occasions in the discussion. As horrible as that case is, we should use great discretion before we use it to support particular aspects of the discussion that we are having on home-schooling. Poor Sara Sharif was failed by virtually every state agency that she came into contact with and to me it illustrates that, however strong your rules are, they can fail if they are badly applied. We should be careful about such cases allowing us to make bad law.
