I know it plays into certain people’s hands to argue that somehow Britain is arming Israel to attack. I condemn some of the actions of Israel in Gaza—they cannot be justified—but to say that Britain is arming those individuals to do that is just not the case. The idea that the UK is supplying intelligence, because we have military and air assets collecting intelligence, as we do in all parts of the world, in the eastern Mediterranean, and that it is therefore justified to damage a Voyager tanker aircraft at Brize Norton because it refuels our aircraft on those operations, is nonsense.
