It is already possible for the Lord Chancellor to request that the JAC recommends individuals to a role such as this. The process is governed by an established and clearly defined statutory framework. It requires specific steps, such as statutory consultation, to be undertaken before such a request is made. Placing a legislative requirement on the JAC to make such a recommendation would be in direct conflict with this established process.
