The noble Lord, Lord Moylan, said on his Amendments 926 and 929 that the voluntary assisted dying commissioner, when thinking about renewal, should not have regard to the particular views expressed by panel members sitting on panels. I completely get what the noble Lord is saying—that someone should not be excluded because they have come to a particular view on a principled basis—but it would be wrong to put that in the Bill. I think that it is for the voluntary assisted dying commissioner to determine what is appropriate to happen on renewal.
