Still on the membership of panels, on Amendment 928, the noble Baroness, Lady Hollins, who I see in her place, suggested that we widen the groups and categories of people who could be on a panel. In fact, her proposal would not widen membership but create subgroups. I think that the best method of dealing with this is to have a lawyer, a social worker and a psychiatrist. We should stick to those three big groups. It is for the voluntary assisted dying commissioner, when he or she is forming the panels or the group from which the panels are drawn, to decide that they have the right degree of sub-expertise. It would be wrong and unhelpful to him to include a substantial number of other categories.
