I move on to a separate category, which is that of privacy. A number of noble Lords put down amendments that deal with the extent to which panels should sit in public or private. The Bill currently says that the norm is to sit in public, unless the patient wants it to sit in private. In such a case, the panel can require that it sits in private. As I indicated on this at the end of last week’s proceedings, my view is that, if the patient wants it to be in private, it should be in private because this is such a personal thing.
