I partly address this through my Amendment 712, which mandates prescribing standards, and Amendment 626A, which seeks to remove the requirement for a doctor’s prescription and enables direct dispensing by a specialist registered pharmacist. If the House takes the view that the MHRA is not currently equipped to regulate substances in this context, the logical response would be to adapt or expand the MHRA’s remit so that it can develop a suitable regulatory pathway—something I propose in my Amendment 713A.
