The second amendment I wish to draw attention to, Amendment 615, returns to the question of whether the assisted dying service should be separate from or part of the NHS. For reasons that I and many others have set out, which I will not repeat now, our view is that were assisted dying to become law, it should be outside the scope of the current NHS and should be established separately. That, I know, is not the view of the noble and learned Lord. However, since the Committee last met, and as the noble Baroness, Lady Berger, has just referred to, we have now had, published yesterday, a further report from the Delegated Powers and Regulatory Reform Committee, which speaks specifically to this point, about the degree of transparency that should be in the Bill about the scheme the noble and learned Lord is proposing to establish within the NHS.
