Speaking in the House of Lords on 13 March 2026

Debate

Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill

Contribution

On the question of the Secretary of State determining what will be used, I think all the amendments tabled have been to try to find out on what basis the Secretary of State will make that decision. I note the noble Lord, Lord Winston, referred to a remarkably large amount of literature on the way that the drugs used actually end life. I would be most grateful if he could send me copies of that literature, because in my literature searches and, I believe, those of my noble friend Lady Hollins we have not found the pharmacological and pharmacokinetic evidence. It is really important to know how that will be decided.
