As an aside, last summer, whenever we had one of those days, which are rare in this country, of warm sunshine, and I was out and about in a pair of sunglasses, I got pitying looks from some people, as if they were thinking, “Look at that poor man. Not only is he disabled and in a wheelchair but he is obviously blind as well”—though that might have been more of a commentary on my wheelchair driving.
