Debate

Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill

Contribution

I think I am right in understanding that we still would not find that appropriate, under the suicide prevention strategies and duties that exist for medical professionals. I do not think that the noble and learned Lord is suggesting this—he will be able to say so when he winds up—and I do not think that anyone is suggesting that it would be appropriate for a medical practitioner to suggest proactively that someone ends their own life, without assistance, by going off and doing it themselves. The noble and learned Lord is nodding his assent to that proposition.
