Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill

Contribution

Just to be clear on the point about the 10% of secondary schools that do not have a policy that restricts usage, that 10% refers to secondary schools that had a policy that allowed pupils to use their phone at some point during the school day. Some 6% of secondary schools had a policy that allowed pupils to use their phones during lessons when a teacher said they could and 4% had a policy that either allowed pupils to use their phones at break or lunch or allowed pupils to use their phones in school at any time. So, in effect, 90% of schools ban the use of mobile phones during the school day.
