Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill

Contribution

I hope that the noble Baroness, Lady Walmsley, who has worked closely on this, not least in her role as chair of the Food, Diet and Obesity Committee, will recognise the action that this Government have taken in opening up access to free meals to all households on universal credit. That goes beyond her committee’s recommendation that free meals be available to all households earning £20,000 or less. We hope that noble Lords will agree that both our simplified eligibility criteria and our improved checking system will make it easier for families to claim the support to which they are entitled.
