Economic crime is now the most commonly experienced crime in the UK, accounting for more than 40% of all reported incidents, yet we invest just 0.05% of GDP in enforcement. That is not sustainable and these crimes are not victimless—they erode public trust, exploit our financial institutions, and hollow out high streets and communities.
