For those reasons, I was very encouraged by Operation Machinize, the National Crime Agency-led crackdown on barbershops suspected of laundering criminal funds earlier this year. I take this opportunity to put on record my thanks to the leadership of the NCA and the Serious Fraud Office, and to their frontline staff; they have engaged closely with the APPG on anti-corruption and responsible tax, which I chair. Those organisations are doing excellent work, but they cannot tackle this problem alone. We need proper cross-Government co-ordination and resources for enforcement.
