The transformation of the Public Order Act 1986, which has become Britain’s de facto blasphemy law, needs to be reversed. Sections 4 and 5 of the Act are now used to prosecute individuals for expressing legitimate opinions. The law is being twisted, making the protester responsible for the potentially violent reaction of those who cannot deal with criticism of their beliefs.
