My hon. Friend the Member for Lowestoft (Jess Asato) and the hon. Member for Gosport (Dame Caroline Dinenage) have put forward similar new clauses—102 and 121—that seek to amend the offence of possession of extreme pornographic images. I pay tribute to them for their work on the matter. There is absolutely no place for violent, misogynistic and harmful content online that perpetuates violent views against women and girls and has the effect of doing them great harm. We know that the increasing prevalence of the kind of content outlined in these amendments is fuelling violent sexual encounters. There are issues with the drafting for both new clauses, but the Government support their underlying aim. Accordingly, I am pleased to say that we will bring forward amendments in the Lords to criminalise pornography depicting strangulation and suffocation.
