Moving on to new clause 122, I thank my hon. Friend the Member for North Warwickshire and Bedworth (Rachel Taylor) for putting forward the new clause and for all her work campaigning in this space. We heard many excellent speeches from hon. Members on this issue. The new clause would make all existing strands of hate crime an aggravated offence. Crimes targeted at disabled, LGBT+ and transgender people are disgraceful, and the shocking figures that she referenced, including the steep increase in hate crimes towards transgender people, cannot be tolerated. She knows that the Government support this change, as we set out in our manifesto last year. I can confirm to the House that in Committee in the Lords we will bring forward a suitable Government amendment to give effect to that commitment.
