I turn now to new clause 44, tabled by my hon. Friend the Member for Bolton North East (Kirith Entwistle). She will be aware that the independent domestic homicide sentencing review undertaken by Clare Wade KC, which considered the issue of honour-based abuse, will lead in due course to a number of changes in legislation, particularly on aggravating factors related to controlling or coercive behaviour. We expect those changes to cover many of the instances of honour-based abuse that my hon. Friend wants to address through her new clause. As she will be aware, the Lord Chancellor has asked the Law Commission to undertake a wholesale review of the sentencing framework for murder, as well as of the law relating to homicide offences.
