Speaking in the House of Lords on 12 March 2026

Debate

Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading Scheme (Amendment) (Extension to Maritime Activities) Order 2026

Contribution

I think that is the basis on which this debate has gone forward as far as the Northern Ireland Assembly is concerned. The Northern Ireland Assembly is grown-up enough to take its own decisions without worrying too much about who is giving it what information in what place in order to inform those decisions. Indeed, it took a decision to support this SI, so all four of the Governments in the UK are now behind this SI and the road is clear, therefore, for it to be agreed by this House if it wishes to do so.
