We know that we are living through a prolonged cost of living crisis in which every penny spent, and every penny saved, matters to our constituents. Frankly, given that I represent one of the poorest communities in this country, I know that members of my community know exactly how much cash they do not have, so every bill makes a difference. Over 4 million people in this country are now behind on their council tax, and bills have risen by an average of 54% in the last 10 years. The Money Advice Trust tells us that around 7 million adults are now behind on at least one household bill, which is why good advice matters for financial planning. People are desperate for advice about how to deal with the situation, and that is where the con artists come in.
