Again and again, this Government punish those who are doing the right thing, as my hon. Friend the Member for Bridgwater (Sir Ashley Fox) said earlier, and take money from those who work hard to fund those who do not work at all, or to spend big on ideological projects that nobody has ever asked or voted for. The policy is not just nonsensical; it is deeply immoral. This is no way to treat the people, including those in the Weald of Kent, who go to work—doing some of the toughest work imaginable—every single day, often for long and unsociable hours, to keep our country fed. Amendment 6 would put a stop to this appalling tax, and I am delighted to support it.
