My noble friend Lord Pickles may say that I am trying to support a wrecking amendment, but that is not true. Like my noble friend Lord Eccles—he is slightly more senior to me, but I am still a war baby—I remember my father showing me pictures. He was a soldier who came out of the Army at the end of the war. He collected copies of the Illustrated London News, which Members of the House of a certain age will remember from the pre-television age. Before television, the only time you saw moving pictures was when you went to the cinema and saw the newsreel before the main feature began. The Illustrated London News and other publications filled that gap, and were made up almost exclusively of pictures and photographs.
