I think the majority, if not everybody, would like the memorial to be in Victoria Tower Gardens. The question I would like to put to the Government, just to discover where they stand on all this, is: what will happen if the planning process spits out the proposal? Are they simply going to abandon the whole scheme, or will they see whether they can provide an alternative way of proceeding? If we are not given a clear, emphatic answer to that question, it will be much harder, both for the Government and for ourselves, to know which way to vote.
